Do I need a negative PCR certificate to board?

Passengers travelling to the Kingdom of Bahrain as their final destination:

Passengers with a valid vaccination/recovery certificate issued from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Greece, Cyprus, Hungary, Israel or Seychelles are exempt from providing a PCR before boarding.

 

Some airports will require all passengers to provide a negative PCR certificate regardless of their final destination, you may need to check the regulations of your departure airport as this may apply to your journey.

 

Vaccinated passengers aged 6 years and above with an approved vaccination certificate from countries that are eligible to obtain an on-arrival visa are not required to present a printed negative PCR certificate prior to departure. Passengers that are below 6 years are exempt from providing a pre-boarding PCR. Passengers are encouraged to check their eligibility by visiting www.evisa.gov.bh.

 

Non-vaccinated passengers and passengers without a vaccine certificate recognized by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain are required to present printed negative PCR certificate with a QR code taken no longer than 72 hours prior to departure.

 

Additional information of testing requirements upon landing into the Kingdom of Bahrain are detailed below in the ‘Flying into Bahrain?’ section.

 

 

Passengers transiting through Bahrain International Airport from non-red list countries:

Passengers transiting through Bahrain International Airport will need to meet the requirements of their final destination by visiting the IATA Travel Centre before travelling and are not required to provide a pre-boarding negative PCR certificate, this does not apply to passengers boarding from Mozambique, Myanmar, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Namibia, Mexico, Tunisia, Iran, S. Africa, Indonesia, Iraq, Philippines, Malaysia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Georgia, Ukraine, Malawi, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Slovenia, Ethiopia, Costa Rica and Ecuador. Passengers may need to refer back to the authorities of their final destination to ensure that their documents will be accepted at the borders and that they meet the language requirements

 

 

Passengers travelling to or transiting through the Kingdom of Bahrain as their final destination that are boarding from red list countries (Mozambique, Myanmar, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Namibia, Mexico, Tunisia, Iran, S. Africa, Indonesia, Iraq, Philippines, Malaysia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Georgia, Ukraine, Malawi, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Slovenia, Ethiopia, Costa Rica and Ecuador):

All passengers travelling to or transiting through the Kingdom of Bahrain from red list countries (Mozambique, Myanmar, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Namibia, Mexico, Tunisia, Iran, S. Africa, Indonesia, Iraq, Philippines, Malaysia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Georgia, Ukraine, Malawi, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Slovenia, Ethiopia, Costa Rica and Ecuador) and regardless of vaccination status are required to provide a printed negative PCR certificate with a QR code taken no longer than 48 hours prior to departure and will need to meet requirements of their final destination if transiting via Bahrain International Airport by visiting the IATA Travel Centre before travelling. Passengers may also need to refer back to the authorities at their final destination to ensure that their documents will be accepted at the borders in the required language. Passengers that are below 6 years are exempt from providing a pre-boarding PCR.

Immigration rules for passengers entering the Kingdom of Bahrain from non-red list countries:

  • Entry is restricted to Bahraini citizens, residents, GCC citizens who do not need a visa, passengers eligible to obtain a visa on arrival, passengers with a valid eVisa, diplomats, military personnel, airline crew and holders of official, service or UN passports

Immigration rules for passengers entering the Kingdom of Bahrain from red list countries (Mozambique, Myanmar, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Namibia, Mexico, Tunisia, Iran, S. Africa, Indonesia, Iraq, Philippines, Malaysia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Georgia, Ukraine, Malawi, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Slovenia, Ethiopia, Costa Rica and Ecuador

  • Entry into the Kingdom of Bahrain for arrivals from Mozambique, Myanmar, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Namibia, Mexico, Tunisia, Iran, S. Africa, Indonesia, Iraq, Philippines, Malaysia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Georgia, Ukraine, Malawi, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Slovenia, Ethiopia, Costa Rica and Ecuador is restricted to Bahraini citizens and holders of valid Bahraini residency visas
  • All passengers who have visited or transited through Mozambique, Myanmar, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Namibia, Mexico, Tunisia, Iran, S. Africa, Indonesia, Iraq, Philippines, Malaysia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Georgia, Ukraine, Malawi, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Slovenia, Ethiopia, Costa Rica and Ecuador within the past 14 days are prohibited from entering the Kingdom of Bahrain. Bahraini citizens and holders of valid Bahraini residency visas are exempt from this rule
  • In compliance with the Air Bubble agreement with the Republic of India, boarding from India on Gulf Air flights is restricted to Bahraini citizens and residents as well as Indian passport holders with valid Bahraini residency visas

 

Entry into Bahrain

  • All passengers must download the official "BeAware Bahrain" App prior to departure
  • All passengers must complete the Ministry of Health's "Health Declaration Form" prior to departure to avoid delays upon arrival. Forms will be provided at the check-in counters and upon arrival in Bahrain or complete the ‘Declaration for Arriving to Bahrain’ section under eServices in the the official ‘BeAware Bahrain’ App
  • All passengers are required to undergo a PCR test upon arrival and undergo additional testing on the 5th and 10th day of their stay and are subject to quarantine depending on their vaccination status and the recognition of their vaccine certification; passengers that are below 6 years are exempt from arrival tests.

 

Passengers vaccinated/recovered in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Greece, Cyprus, Hungary, Israel and Seychelles:

  • Fully vaccinated passengers who have exceeded 14 days from their second COVID-19 vaccine dose or have recovered from COVID-19 must undergo a PCR test at their own expense upon arrival into Bahrain and remain in self-isolation until the result of the PCR test is determined and undergo additional testing on the 5th and 10th day of their stay. Evidence of a vaccination certificate or recovery can be presented via their respective official COVID-19 App or vaccination certificate provided by the official public health authority
  • The three tests are subject to a BHD 36 fee (approximately USD$ 96), to be paid prior to arrival through the official "BeAware Bahrain" App, the Bahrain eGovernment portal, or upon arrival at a designated kiosk at the airport, where payment by cash or card is accepted; passengers that are below 6 years are exempt from arrival tests.

 

Vaccinated passengers with approved vaccination certificate from countries that are eligible to obtain an on-arrival visa:

  • Fully vaccinated passengers who have exceeded 14 days from their second COVID-19 vaccine dose in the above mentioned countries will be provided with a vaccination certificate card proving the acceptance of their vaccination status and will be exempted from the mandatory 10-day quarantine
  • Fully vaccinated passengers who have exceeded 14 days from their second COVID-19 vaccine dose from the above mentioned countries must undergo a PCR test at their own expense upon arrival into Bahrain and remain in self-isolation until the result of the PCR test is determined and undergo additional testing on the 5th and 10th day of their stay; passengers that are below 6 years are exempt from arrival tests.
  • The three tests are subject to a BHD 36 fee (approximately USD$ 96), to be paid prior to arrival through the official " BeAware Bahrain" App, the Bahrain eGovernment Portal, or upon arrival at a designated kiosk at the airport, where payment by cash or card is accepted

 

Non-vaccinated passengers and passengers with vaccination certificates that are not recognized by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and all arriving passengers, vaccinated and non-vaccinated, from Mozambique, Myanmar, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Namibia, Mexico, Tunisia, Iran, S. Africa, Indonesia, Iraq, Philippines, Malaysia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Georgia, Ukraine, Malawi, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Slovenia, Ethiopia, Costa Rica and Ecuador

  • Unvaccinated passengers that are arriving from non-red list countries and are under the age of 6 are exempt from arrival tests but will need to quarantine for 5 days and will have to complete a mandatory 10-day period of distance learning
  • Unvaccinated passengers that are arriving from non-red list countries and are aged between 6-12 will need to undergo testing upon arrival and will need to perform additional tests on the 5th and 10th day of their stay. Passengers in this age group will need to quarantine for 5 days and will have to complete a mandatory 10-day period of distance learning
  • Passengers with Kingdom of Bahrain as their final destination and arriving will need to quarantine for 10 days at a government approved facility or at their residence. Proof of residence owned or rented by a direct family member, either a lease agreement, municipality bill or electricity bill, or prepaid hotel reservation is required to be presented at check-in
  • Passengers must undergo a PCR test at their own expense upon arrival; passengers that are below 6 years are exempt from arrival tests.
  • Passengers are obliged to take a second mandatory PCR test on the 5th day of stay and a third mandatory PCR test on the 10th day of their stay and will be released from quarantine when they have received a negative result; passengers that are below 6 years are exempt from arrival tests.
  • The three tests are subject to a BHD 36 fee (approximately USD$ 96), to be paid prior to arrival through the official " BeAware Bahrain" App, the Bahrain eGovernment Portal, or upon arrival at a designated kiosk at the airport, where payment by cash or card is accepted

We’ve expanded our travel insurance offering to cover your complete health and quarantine expenses in the unexpected circumstance of being diagnosed with or contracting COVID-19 during your travels. All tickets booked on Gulf Air flights are automatically covered with COVID 19 insurance at no extra cost, for travel from 10 May 2021 until 10 November 2021.

Passengers with medical conditions

 

Medical passengers who are unable to wear face mask/covering for prolonged periods due to an existing medical condition will have to obtain clearance from Gulf Air prior to travelling by completing the “Carriage of Medical Passengers” form and medical clearance will need to be verified by our ground staff during check in

Medical passengers with an existing medical condition and medical clearance will still be required to wear a face mask/covering at the following periods to reduce exposure:

  • When entering airport terminal buildings and when passing through common areas inside the terminal building
  • Check in and during boarding but  may remove their face mask/covering at short intervals to refresh
  • On board the aircraft, medical passengers may remove their face mask/covering after they are seated but must be worn if they leave their seat to use the lavatory and when they are disembarking the aircraft

Changing your flight

We are allowing all our passengers to get unlimited changes without any change fees; if you have already booked you may change your booking or cancel your booking at no extra charge and save the travel credit for your next trip.

All passengers, regardless of the ticket fare type and regardless of the date of travel

What happens if there is a fare difference for the new date of travel?

Difference in ticket fares may apply for the new departure date. Whilst Gulf Air will not apply any change fees, you will be required to pay the difference if the fare for the new departure date is higher than the fare previously booked. Gulf Air will not offer any refund if the fare for the new departure date is lower than the fare previously booked

How can I change my flight date?

If you have booked your ticket directly with us, you can change the date of your flight by contacting the Gulf Air Contact Centre. If you have booked your ticket through a travel agent, you will need to contact them to make changes to your booking, subject to the above conditions.   

Can I get a refund instead?

If you do not wish to change your travel dates as set out above you can request a refund by contacting the Gulf Air Contact Centre. If you have booked your ticket through a travel agent, you will need to contact them to request a refund. Terms and conditions apply
