Do you know your baggage allowance?

Checked baggage allowances – total weight:

• First Class passengers: 40 kgs
• Business Class passengers: 30 kgs
• Economy Class passengers: 20 kgs

If you are a member of the Gulf Air Frequent flyer programme, you receive an automatic extra baggage allowance over and above the allowance shown on your ticket, free of charge. The extra baggage allowances when travelling with flights operated by Gulf Air are:

• Blue - 10 kgs.
• Silver – 15kgs.
• Gold – 20 kgs

As per IATA Regulations, no single piece of baggage may weigh more than 32 kgs. If it does, you will be asked to repack the bag.

Sports Equipment Golf Bags:

One golf bag containing clubs and one pair of golf shoes up to a maximum weight of 15 kgs will be charged at the rate equivalent to six kilos of excess baggage. Any bag weighing more than 15 kgs will be charged at the normal excess baggage rate.

If the weight of the bag is within the free allowance weight for the customer no charge will be made.

CODESHARE ALLOWANCES – CHECKED BAGGAGE

If you are travelling on a codeshare service operated by American Airlines to and from the USA or Canada, then a piece concept exists.

First & Business Class

Two checked pieces, provided that the total linear dimensions (height + width + depth) for each bag does not exceed 62 inches (158 cms) and the weight of each bag does not exceed 70 lbs (32 kg).

Economy

Two checked pieces, provided the total linear dimensions (height + width + depth) for both bags added together does not exceed 107 inches (273 cms) and the weight of each bag does not exceed 50 lbs (23 kgs). Any piece between 23 kgs and 32 kgs will incur a fixed charge of US$ 25.00 per piece.

Infants – regardless of class

Infants who have paid 10% of the applicable fare will be allowed one checked piece, provided that the total linear dimensions (height + width + depth) does not exceed 62 inches (158 cms) and the weight of the bag does not exceed 50 lbs (23 kgs)

For any baggage carried over the free baggage allowances on these services, a charge will be levied

CABIN BAGGAGE

• First & Business Class:
  One bag (maximum dimensions 55 x 40 x 30 cms or 22 x 16 x 12 inches),
  Or
  One garment carrier (maximum width 20cms or 8 inches),
  Plus
  One briefcase (maximum dimensions 45 x 40 x 30 cms or 18 x 14 x 8 inches).
  Total weight: 9 kgs
  
  
• Economy Class:
  One bag (maximum dimensions 45 x 40 x 30 cms or 17 x 15 x 12 inches)
  Total weight: 6 kgs

Infant (All Classes):

One bag (maximum dimensions 44 x 35 x 20 cms or 18 x 14 x 8 inches)
Total weight: 3 kgs
