The number of miles required to exchange for a free upgrade is calculated using the system of zones.
The table below shows the number of miles that are required for an upgrade with Gulf Air on direct flights only.

Upgrades are subject to the following conditions: -
- Upgrades must be booked and confirmed through a local Gulf Air ticketing office at least 1 day prior to the ticketed travel date.
- Only a one-class upgrade is possible on direct flights operated by Gulf Air.
- Only J, C, Y, H, K, M or L class tickets on Gulf Air are eligible for redemption upgrades.
- You must be travelling with the family member you intend to upgrade.
- Upgrades must be claimed in advance; they are not available at the airport.*
- Upgrading to a higher class will be conditional on the member being suitably attired.
- Upgrades from Economy to First Class are not permitted.
