Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, has been ranked the first full-service carrier for the third month in a row for on-time-punctuality (OTP) in the Middle East region for the month of March 2013.The airline has also maintained the second position, globally, for its on-time-punctuality in March 2013.
Statistics released by FlightStats Data, the industry leader in flight information services, revealed that Gulf Air has registered an on-time-punctuality of above 90% for its flight arrival times in March 2013.
Gulf Air Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Maher Salman AlMusallam commented, “It is a great achievement for Gulf Air to be one of only two international airlines delivering over 90% of their flights on time. In an IATA passenger survey conducted in 2011, punctuality was highlighted as an important focus area by our passengers and since then we have worked hard to improve this. It is rewarding to see our efforts paying off especially since punctuality is a key performance indicator in our restructuring strategy, launched three months ago. Alongside this, Gulf Air has been ranked in the top ten airlines for punctuality globally and ranked first among full-service regional carriers. We recognize the value of time to our passengers and the importance of being able to deliver a consistently high level of on-time-punctuality. We look forward to maintaining this excellent record and continuing to operate flights as scheduled, providing our customers with the highest levels of service.”
“Of course, these accomplishments would not have been possible without the close synergies developed between the aviation entities that support Gulf Air’s operations, both at home and abroad. Locally, the Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority, Bahrain Airport Company and Bahrain Airport Services, among others, have worked alongside Gulf Air to ensure the highest standards of efficiency and service quality. It is only through the combined efforts of these Bahraini aviation companies that the Kingdom has earned its reputation as the most efficient hub in the region and Gulf Air, the reputation as the region’s most punctual airline,” he concluded.
Gulf Air maintained its number one position among the Middle East full service airlines throughout last year and was ranked among the top ten global airlines for consistently maintaining its best flight punctuality in 2012. This is an important factor for customers, particularly time-conscious business passengers, who have to reach their destinations on-time to conduct their business transactions.
FlightStats has been monitoring airlines’ on-time performance since 2004, tracking over 150,000 flights per day, i.e. nearly 80% of all scheduled passenger flights globally. FlightStats examines flight status and arrival data aggregated from global sources including civil aviation authorities, airlines, airports, and major airline reservation systems.
