31 December 2010 Gulf Air is the official carrier for the F1 in School Challenge conducted by St. Christopher Senior School Bahrain.
Mission Statement
The F1in Schools challenge is an excellent opportunity for us to express our interests, skills and ideas. We formed this team based on the foundations of the worlds most prestigious and exciting sport- Formula One. Our aim is to produce the fastest, most efficient CO2 powered miniature race car, with expertise in different areas such as management, marketing, design and engineering, as well as a team manager with first hand experience, we hope to participate with all our efforts in trying to win the competition as a team.
As a team we are committed to doing the best to our capability, winning the competition, and designing the fastest possible CO2 powered car. No matter how challenging the opposition, the risk, the problems or the challenge. We will give it our best shot and participate with honour, prestige and good sportsmanship.
Experiences from last season
The F1 in School 2009 season was fun, educational and life changing experience that provided us with the knowledge to compete more fiercely against other teams this year, this is evident with our victory in the National championship. Last year’s world championship held many surprises and experiences that opened our minds to broad limelight of the competition; we received visits from Bernie Ecclestone and McLaren Driver Lewis Hamilton who were highly impressed and intrigued by the performance of all the teams and endorsed many products that were in display. This year we are aiming high to reach top honors with the other teams and hopefully get our team featured with important F1 personas at the World Championship 2010 event.
The team’s goals
As the only Bahrain F1 in School competitors at the World Championship 2010 in Singapore, it is our mission to represent our glorious country with pride and compete with ambition, focus and above all else hearty sportsmanship. The competition will be fierce, not only in the timed races and verbal presentation, but in the setup of the team display Pit and use of modern ICT equipment to showcase our team’s ability to experiment with new technologies. The major obstacle we face is raising funds to support our team’s expenses. If we were to pay our expenses such as clothing, accommodation and competition fees (which can exceed up to BD500 per person) then we will have no resources available for purchasing custom car parts, team display accessories or gifts to hand out to other competitors during the gift exchange ceremony.
